BöckerConnect: Development of new services based on IoT data

Creating new solutions for service processes, improving product knowledge and generating added value for customers at the same time: Together with us, Böcker is developing a solution that, in addition to live monitoring, offers many digital services, fleet management via smartphone and remote services for both the end customer and Böcker itself.

Highlights of the project

IoT solution from adesso for Böcker

Intelligent geofencing

To support fleet management, the customer portal has a geofencing function that acts as anti-theft protection. Users can define how and where their devices are allowed to move in the form of an area on a map.

Direct remote service

Böcker service technicians can use the customer portal to display the crane control system in a live view. In the event of problems, the service team can start analysing the system remotely and provide direct and uncomplicated assistance - without the need for technicians to visit the site.

Remote status monitoring

By permanently transmitting all relevant crane parameters, Böcker can proactively recognise maintenance requirements, faults or problems with its customers' machines - before the customer even notices them - and thus proactively initiate service.

Our solution

The centrepiece of Böcker Connect is the com2m Smart Product Platform. It is the basis for data transfer to the cloud and thus lays the foundation for all data-based digital services such as the live view of the crane control system for remote maintenance work or comprehensive fleet management.

adesso provided Böcker with comprehensive support during development: we developed the technical concept, ensured the agile implementation of the cloud development as well as the operation and continuous further development of the IoT cloud solution.

In addition to the com2m Smart Product Platform, Microsoft Azure was used to implement the target architecture, as well as Angular as the front-end technology.

The customer

The Werner-based company Böcker has been producing professional applications for height access technology since 1958. In addition to construction hoists, rack and pinion hoists and industrial hoists, the focus has been on the mobile cranes produced since 1989. For construction sites and locations where stationary construction cranes lack flexibility, a mobile crane is the ideal solution. The company is in constant dialogue with tradespeople, such as roofers and carpenters, in order to develop products that are as application-oriented as possible. In addition to a close-knit service network, Böcker also offers machines for hire.
