adesso and Configit drive digitalisation of variant management and automation of end-to-end processes

Strategic partnership combines CLM technology and industry expertise for end-to-end configuration and automation solutions in the manufacturing industry.

Dortmund, 14 May 2025 - The scalability of the product portfolio down to batch size 1 and the mapping of an end-to-end CPQ process (Configure, Price, Quote) continue to pose major challenges for many manufacturing companies. In order to optimally support these companies with integrated solutions, adesso SE, one of the leading IT service providers in Germany, and Configit, market leader for Configuration Lifecycle Management (CLM), are now entering into a strategic partnership. The aim of the partnership is to provide companies with an end-to-end solution that enables them to map the entire product lifecycle and automate processes at all levels of complexity, from Configure-to-Order (CTO) to Configure-to-Order Plus (CTO+) and Engineer-to-Order (ETO). Together, the partners want to develop industry-specific solutions, for example for mechanical and plant engineering, the automotive industry or the high-tech sector, in order to specifically address the requirements of multi-variant product landscapes. The collaboration between adesso and Configit is focussed on shaping an end-to-end digital transformation, as they take a holistic view of their customers' processes, from sales and engineering through to service.

Technology and expertise combined

adesso manufacturing industry solutions GmbH, a subsidiary of adesso SE, brings to the partnership its extensive experience in complex end-to-end processes, particularly in make-to-order production, and in the integration and automation of IT systems in the manufacturing and process industry. Configit complements this with its market-leading CLM software solutions and technologies for complex product configurations. In practice, this means that the partners combine the Configit Ace configuration solution for the CTO area with the adesso FIRE framework for ETO processes. The integration of both technologies enables seamless connection to common ERP, CRM and PLM systems as well as specialised industry solutions.

Companies benefit from end-to-end automated processes that not only reduce complexity, but also increase operational efficiency. By integrating CLM solutions into existing IT architectures, error rates during configuration can be significantly reduced and process reliability increased. At the same time, optimised processes in product lifecycle management shorten time-to-market, while networked CRM, e-commerce and configuration solutions create a consistent, guided sales experience and thus sustainably improve customer satisfaction.

"The key to success in industrial manufacturing lies in intelligent, rule-based variant configuration and largely automated order processing for intelligent products and complex system solutions, from customer to customer," explains Andreas Liesche, Managing Director of adesso manufacturing industry solutions GmbH. "By combining our two technologies, Configit and we are creating a future-proof basis for end-to-end, digital value creation processes in the manufacturing and process industry."

Johan Salenstedt, CEO of Configit, emphasises the importance of the partnership:
"The increasing complexity of products requires new strategies. If you want to continue to be successful in times of increasing individualisation, you have to think holistically about variant and configuration management. The integration of PLM, ERP and CPQ in a CLM creates the necessary transparency and flexibility to deliver customised products quickly and reliably."
